Reality Check Network Volume 1 by Legacy (1995/6)

Reality Check Network started it's roots as a promotional magazine for a game group called Legacy. Many people may disagree with me but if you go through the early issues you can see many reports that focused around the group, weather it's press releases or attacks on other groups. The first thirteen issues of RCN shows their innocence when they actually reported the news instead of creating it. These issues are worth looking back on just to see what started it all if nothing else. The issues contain a few good reports and interviews with the people who now run today's scene.

Reality Check Network Volume 2 by Reality (1996/7)

By the time RCN died after issue 13 it had already built up a massive following with the mainstream scene, as well as with the members and leaders of the main groups. But when RCN returned in May 1996 they decided that being the biggest and the best wasn't enough, they wanted more and they got it. By the time issue 14 was released RCN was being advertised (unknowingly by most people) on internet sites not related to the scene. If you browsed Yahoo or searched an internet electronic magazine database Reality Check Network would be clearly listed as well as what they reported on, the PC pirate scene. Not only did they advertise they also changed their content to make it more entertaining. Now if you wanted to see the two secret articles you had to beat a high score on the RCN Space Invaders. Readers could test their skills on a quiz which would then calculate your score for you with all the answers to the quiz's questions located the in current or previous issues of the magazine. And if you still wanted more interaction you could vote on your favourite group and then send them in to hopefully see the results in a later issue.

If you do read through these issues you notice RCN does get a bit cocky, just that a look at their introduction in issue 22.

"Welcome to Reality Check Network, your #1 Warez E-mag! And so we'd like to stay! Currently, we have just finished wiping out the competition, apparently it just couldn't compete with us."

Even though at the time RCN had already managed to create it's hard core haters (many ex-Defacto/RCN members) the magazine still managed to gain critical support from all the main groups from around the world.
