* "Blizzard Entertainment is facing a lawsuit as a result of its brief fling
with copying information such as e-mail addresses from some users' computers
running its Starcraft video game. Albany attorney Donald P. Driscoll has sued
the Irvine company and its corporate parent, Cendant Corp., under California's
unlawful business practice laws, and charges that the company violated laws that
prohibit the introduction of a ''contaminant'' designed to transmit information
from a user's computer without the user's permission. Blizzard says it only
collected information to resolve technical issues, did not keep the information,
and no longer collects such information."

Isn't it funny how:
1) Blizzard tries to battle the 'scene' by taking our private information
2) Beowulf, on behalf of our 'scene', finds this and lets the word out
3) Blizzard now pays the price for trying to fuck with the 'scene'

I think their is a lesson to be learned here. :]

It seems not everyone accepts to be violated by the likes of Blizzard. Although
the respons to my e-mail was pathetic, with most of people even from the scene
having a "who cares", someone is suing Blizzard for unlawful business

Blizzard is being sued over its actions! This press release appeared on
bluesnews.com today:

I find it pathetic that a money-maker such as Blizzard, which is totally against
software piracy, would resort to this type of action. Who here is the real
criminal? On a brighter note, it seems the scene is good for something...
weeding out companies such as Blizzard which attempt to illegally obtain
information from its users. I don't see anywhere on the StarCraft package that
requires me to send in my private info. That a respected company such as
Blizzard resorts to such measures is truly sad, and unfortunately they may loose
many customers over this incident (including myself).
