DOSee pronounced dos/see, is our emulator used to run MS-DOS based software in your web browser.

MS-DOS (Microsoft DOS) was the primary operating system used by PCs during the 1980s to the early 1990s and is the precursor to Microsoft Windows.

DOSee is a slimmed down, modified port of The Emularity.

The Emularity is a multi-platform JavaScript emulator that supports the running of software for legacy computer platforms in a web browser. It is the same platform that's running emulation on the Internet Archive.

EM-DOSBox is a discontinued, high-performance JavaScript port of DOSBox that is applied by The Emularity for its emulation of the MS-DOS platform.

DOSee uses BrowserFS ZipFS and ZipFS Extras to simulate zip file archives as hard disks within EM-DOSBox.

DOSBox is the most popular MS-DOS emulator in use today and is frequently used by commercial game publishers to run games from their back-catalogues on modern computers.

UNPROTECT FOR F-19 STEALTH FIGHTER (MICROPROSE SIMULATION SOFTWARE) First, make a copy of DISK A (the master disk) using DOS DISKCOPY program. Put the original away in a safe place. Put a formatted disk in drive B: and copy DEBUG.COM (supplied with your DOS disk), F19ZAP.BAT, AND F19ZAP.DAT [and START.DAT, see below] to that disk. Put the copy of DISK A in drive A: Type "B:F19ZAP" (omit the quote marks). This will unprotect the version of SU.EXE that's dated 10-15-88, but probably won't work for other versions. Your disk is now unprotected. Enjoy! Jeff Johnson 1/14/89 (A Few Gripes) Why did I waste a few hours of my time creating this unprotect??? Microprose, in their less than infinite wisdom, states in their manual: "Responding to past critiques, we've changed our schemes, making them unobtrusive." If their future protection systems get any less obtrusive, they'll start checking your blood type and fingerprints before running! With the older copy protection systems (i.e. in GUNSHIP), you would run an install program which would stick some hidden files on your hard disk. After that, you'd just load the game, it would check for the hidden files, and you're off and running. With this new & improved "unobtrusive" system, you are tied to your one "key disk". Even though you may have a super-duper 386 machine with a 300 meg hard drive, you still must have the holy floppy in drive A: or B: to load the game (and then waste more time trying to identify a fuzzy aircraft picture). If it gets lost or if your dog eats it, you're screwed. For me, this usually entails digging through piles of stuff on my computer desk, hunting for the damn floppy. After you've broken the scheme on your master disk, the floppy is no longer needed to load the game. Now I just have to find the f'ing manual to go thru the "Aircraft ID Quiz". Such is life! ============================================================================= 2/6/89 Thanks for the unprotect, Jeff. I am adding to your files to include a patch for the "Aircraft ID Quiz". The quiz will still show up but you can select any ID and they are all the "Correct Identification". I have added to the F19ZAP.BAT file and added the file START.DAT to patch START.EXE. I have also added the file F19ZAPHD.BAT for use with a hard drive. In order to use this patch make sure a copy of SU.EXE and START.EXE from your F19 disk are in the current directory along with the BAT and DAT files included within this archive. The patch utilizes DEBUG.COM so this must also be in the cur- rent directory or in your PATH. Now just type F19ZAPHD to run the batch file and the patches will take place. You can now copy these files (NOT TO YOUR ORIGINAL) along with the other F19 files to the media of your choice. Scumbucket
