News And Rumours »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» What's with Square? Their three latest efforts, GunHazard, Bahamut Lagoon, and Rudora all have lacked the magic that have been synonymous with the Square label. Also, rumours has it that Square have just been finishing off their Super Famicom projects in order to go-on to the next-generation platforms. However, according to the japanese mag Famicom Tsushin, Square will continue producing games for the Super Famicom since it still represents about 70 percent of the japanese Role-Playing games market. So what do we have to look forwards to? Well, the next game to be released is the much awaited Treasure Hunter G, which is a top-down role-playing game that uses rendered graphics that looks much better than those in Secret of Evermore. More interestingly though, is the 'Final Fantasy Tactic' game, which is a co-development between Square and Quest, who did the great Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre. The game promises to be tour the force in graphics and tactics, and while there has been no screenshots as of yet, one can trust that the game will have the isometric viewpoint used in all earlier Quest games. And lastly, Chrono Trigger 2. Gamefan claimed that this game would be part of Square's 20-games lineup for the Playstation, while Famicom Tsushin claims it to be a future release for the Super Famicom. Time will tell. Capcom strikes back with Streetfigter Alpha for the Super Famicom. The game will use 48 MBit and will probably be the second Snes game released at that size, (the first was Namco's Tale Phantasia) and will probably incorporate the SA-1 compression chip that was found in Mario RPG. Also Capcom have Marvel Super Heroes, however, this game won't be based upon the arcade, but will instead be a traditional side-scroller. Two other titles from Capcom remains as yet unannounced. Due to the delay of Nintendo 64, Nintendo has decided to give the Snes market a real buzz, with Killer Instinct 2, Starfox 2, Super Kirby Deluxe, Mother 3, Donkey Kong Country 3, and atleast three more secret titles, of which one are rumoured to be a new Zelda game. Also a new Metroid game has been mentioned, however not with Samus as the games main character...?
