Unprotect for Jack Nicklaus Golf BE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR PROGRAM DISK BEFORE STARTING AND USE THE BACK UP FOR THE UNPROTECT. Modify only the backup copy!!! First you should rename the file or files GOLFE.EXE TO GOLFE GOLFC.EXE TO GOLFC GOLFT.EXE TO GOLFT Ex. C>rename golfc.exe golfc Next Load program into debug... Ex. C>debug golfc Then Follow the sample debug session: -s 0000 ffff e9 84 01 e8 : Search for protection pattern XXXX:YYYY : The search will return one address. If more than one is returned this unprotect may not work. ZZZZ=YYYY+0009 : Add 9 to the address found (These numbers are in hex. If you are unfamiliar with the adding of hex numbers don't attempt this patch) -e ZZZZ eb 08 90 90 90 : Edit the contents of the computed address Now write the new golfc game back to the disk: -w <Enter> Writing XXXX bytes Then Quit Debug: -q <Enter> Now it is time to rename golfc back to golfc.exe C>ren golfc golfc.exe Now try to run the new (Hopefully) unprotected version of Jack Nicklaus Golf C>golfc -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unprotect Brought to you courtesy of Super Dave Super Dave can be reached at: The Download Depot BBS (803) 269-7899 Greenville, SC
