HOW TO UNPROTECT "KINDERCOMP" AND "KIDS ON KEYS" GAMES FROM SPINNAKER SOFTWARE (by Herb Sorock, 07/01/85) These "unprotects" will permit the backing-up of the "Kindercomp" and "Kids on Keys" games as well as permitting hard disk owners to run the games without the original disks in drive A. Some familiarity with the DEBUG program on the PC-DOS disk is assumed. KINDERCOMP ---------- Note: The procedures below apply to version 1.0 of this game. 1. Take out the KINDERCOMP disk and make a copy of it on another disk using "COPY A:*.* B:" . Do not make the copy using DISKCOPY since the disk is protected. Put the original away in your "archives". 2. Put your DOS diskette in drive A and the KINDERCOMP copy in drive B. 3. Follow the "script" below. Lowercase is your input, uppercase is DEBUG's response. XXXX means the numbers in these spaces will vary depending on your machine's configuration. Note: if DEBUG shows something other than what is indicated below, you have a different version and this unprotect will not work. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- A>ren b:kdc_ib.exe *.xxx A>debug b:kdc_ib.xxx -u 3b54,3b54 XXXX:3B54 CD13 INT 13 -e 3b54 XXXX:3B54 CD.eb 13.4a (note: hit space bar after "eb") -w Writing 3B00 bytes -q A>ren b:kdc_ib.xxx *.exe --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. KINDERCOMP is now unprotected.
