As of today, January 6th, 1990, we are no longer affiliated with the cracking group INC. The main reason behind our decision to leave INC is the irresponsible leadership of one of the co-presidents, Line Noise. Recently, he decided to post a list of new releases from INC on my board which included The Colonel's Bequest, Rambo III, and Starflight II. The first part of the message read, "INC is hot!" Over the next couple of days, he proceeded to upload to The Mad Scientist two of these games UNCRACKED saying that other people in the group were having trouble cracking them, could he please take a look at them. After receiving them, Mad had very little time to do much of anything in the way of cracking. With what time he had, he worked on The Colonel's Bequest. When he was just about done, another cracker in the group, R. Bubba Magillicutty, released it cracked. We have no problem with that, but he wouldn't have been working on it in his limited time if he had known that another good cracker in the group was working on it. We then just learned today that Line Noise had been promising the release of Rambo III to the general public. The Fang, who downloaded the FiRM version from The Laboratory to test it, read us Lord Blix's pointed message in the INFOFIRM file. Line Noise was telling them that Mad was going to release it since he gave him the uncracked game and kept checking The Laboratory daily to see if there were any new files in the INC Releases area. Mad left him mail that he wouldn't be able to work on it for a while - he's been running his board remotely from a Macintosh hooked up to a 1200 baud modem for about a week. This apparently didn't bother Line Noise, so he kept telling the public that it was going to be released. We understand the message from Lord Blix in this case - "Learn how to crack before you learn how to brag." Our basic problem in this entire thing is that Line Noise has been promising wonderful things from a "rebuilt" INC when there's no way we could deliver. The "rebirth" of INC is also questionable. Very little has been released since he began announcing that INC was back in a big way. Our other major problem with Line Noise is his constant power trip. Ever since a group of people broke off from INC a few months ago, he has been determined to take sole leadership of the group from the other co- presidents, The Realm Keeper, and JT. The other day, he "stole" a good part of the group UNiON and had them join INC. He didn't even bother to consult with the other presidents, who would have vetoed this maneuver due to the utter lameness of the new recruits. JT found out about the whole thing when Mad told him a day later that INC was now bigger and lamer. In a conversation with Line Noise, Mad found out exactly how power-hungry he was. Back in his MCM days, he said, Jenetic Bytemare made an offer to him to have his group join PTL. As you probably know, PTL was almost the ONLY group around at that time. They were practically the only group that was releasing anything at all. MCM had a couple of good cracks, but nothing exciting. Line Noise refused to merge with PTL because he, "didn't want to be under anyone." Later, when MCM, NYC, and ECA merged to form INC, he remained as a co-president, so there was no problem there. Recently, he's been taking actions as if he were the only president of the group without consulting any of the other presidents. This is irresponsible and potentially disastrous, as it probably was with the UNiON merger. Another example of his quest for more and more power / eliteness occurred when INC decided to do away with having four homeboards and to turn everything into a distribution site. After The Realm Keeper posted on his board this information, he was surprised to see Line Noise's board now held the title "Home of INC". It seems that Line Noise decided to make himself the sole homeboard AND president. He must have thought that this would improve his image with other people, but it apparently didn't help within INC. We don't want to be part of any group with a president, or co- president acting as sole president, who acts as irresponsibly as Line Noise has. It's a tribute to INC that it has survived so long under this type of leadership, and we hope that it continues to prosper without us and whoever else leaves at this time. What we've decided to do is to re-form the original NYC as it was before we merged with MCM and ECA many months ago. The Realm Keeper: President The Mad Scientist: Cracker JT: Cracker The Fang: Junior Woodchuck Cracker / Tech Support Iceman: Supplier The two NYC boards will be The Adventurer's Guild and The Laboratory. TAG will be the homeboard and The Laboratory will be a distribution site. The Mad Scientist The Realm Keeper JT The Fang Iceman
