Unprotect for 'The Games (Winter Edition)' BE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR 'THE GAMES' DISK BEFORE STARTING AND USE THE BACK UP FOR THE UNPROTECT. Modify only the backup copy!!! First you should rename the file or files GAMES.EXE TO GAMES Ex. C>rename games.exe games Next Load program into debug... Ex. C>debug games Then Follow the sample debug session: -s 0000 ffff 0b c0 74 01 : Search for the protection pattern XXXX:YYYY : The search will return one address. If more than one is returned this unprotect may not work. ZZZZ=YYYY-0005 : Sub 5 from the address found (These numbers are in hex. If you are unfamiliar with the adding of hex numbers don't attempt this patch) -e ZZZZ eb 03 90 90 90 31 c0 : Edit the contents of the computed address Now write the new games game back to the disk: -w <Enter> Writing XXXX bytes Then Quit Debug: -q <Enter> Now it is time to rename games back to games.exe C>ren games games.exe Now try to run the new (Hopefully) unprotected version of The Games C>games -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unprotect Brought to you courtesy of Super Dave Super Dave can be reached at: The Download Depot BBS (803) 269-7899 Greenville, SC
