zorke - farewell I'm not sure how to start this text, so I'll just plunge straight into it. As some of you may know already, I'm leaving the demoscene. I'm not leaving because I've had enough, and I'm not leaving because I'm no longer interested, but rather due to some permanent changes in my personal life, which I would prefer to keep private. It's the end of the second year I spent in the demoscene, but believe me : I started getting interested in this kind of thing several years before that. Those two years have been fun, and they have given me motivation to learn and continue learning ... for life. It was in the demoscene that I began to actually enjoy math, and it was in the demoscene that I began to learn and gradually perfect my programming skills. For these, I am grateful. But there is more to life than computer screens, code, chiptunes, demos, and IRC. When real life calls, it must always take precedence. In my case, it's a permanent calling. I must leave. From reading scene NFO's from the early 90's which I found on an obscure pubstro server (in 2011! 0_o) to coding my last intro (you'll see soon!), I believe I did devote all my time to pursuing it. I don't know whether that was a wise decision, but that was nevertheless what I did. Nerve, the artgroup, which I founded along with Peak, will live on. I believe that, as long as I had been involved in the demoscene, Nerve in particular, I had given it all that I had. But now it's time for me to move on. I would like to thank many people for making my demoscene wandering enjoyable, but I cannot remember them all. But here are some: I would like to thank Peak, Mr. Eeh, Drozerix, Rebb, Elpunto, Dark Fox, Ola Hughson, and eXOdus, the members of nerve, for joining, and I thank them in advance for sticking with nerve when I have left. I would especially like to thank Peak, Mr. Eeh, and Drozerix for joining Nerve when it was only a small group, with little to offer in the way of reputation or skill. I would like to thank Peak particularly for being my buddy during this time. Thanks Peak, for helping me out and encouraging me! I wouldn't have been able to come so far if you hadn't been out there. Good luck with your demoscene career and also in real life! <3 I would also like to thank Mr Eeh for helping out with Nerve when it was in its budding stages, and also for being a great friend : Good luck, and take care of yourself! <3 I would like to thank mudlord for the nice times we've had talking on irc, for helping me out with learning C and some other problems, and also for providing some services for Nerve. I would like to thank wysiwtf for providing us at nerve with our nice BNCs. and for helping our IRC chan to get started. Thanks also go to Irokos of Titan for being encouraging and understanding, even when I was feeling down, and also for some friendly chat :) Keep it up! and all the best for Titan! I would like to thank the numerous scene groups with whom I have worked with during my career, especially RNDD. I almost forgot : I'd like to thank MasterUploader for giving me work to do when I was getting started, and also for the friendly chat. Study hard man :), and good luck with your scene career too! Some other people I would like to give a final shout out to : iks^titan, Jazzcat, Svenzzon, Dubmood, Rez, Preacher (for giving me some motivation), Sheep/AGES, STN, Smanettone83, Renan, and anyone I forgot, plus RNDD, Lz0, DVT, THETA, DJiNN, and any other groups I forgot :P Finally, I send out a great big "THANK YOU" to everyone on the demoscene : its a great place for geeks with an artistic flair to hang out in! May the scene not die for many years to come. I will probably not come back at all, but wysiwtf, if you read this far, you might as well keep my BNC there for a year. If I don't log on at all, you can safely assume I'm not coming back All the best for the demoscene in the future. Farewell Zorke^Nerve, December 20, 2013
