Emulating GBU.EXE in DOSee.

Use these tabs to make adjustments to the emulation

Gravis Ultrasound (GUS) audio settings, port 240 IRQ 5 DMA 1

If the emulation is taking too long to load, you can turn it off.

Reload DOSee to launch the DOS prompt

Applying changes will reload the page and reboot the emulator

Changes are not applied until the browser tab is reloaded

DOS programs need a keyboard for user input
Some common keys used in DOS programs

ENTER to select or continue
ESC to navigate back or exit
are often used to navigate menus

Emulation too slow?
Set the emulator to use maximum CPU speed

Emulation too fast?
Set the emulator to use the 8086 CPU configuration

Need to turn off the audio?
Disable sound card support

Have no audio?
  1. Try SoundBlaster 16 hardware
  2. The song or audio file maybe missing from the program
  3. Audio may not be supported
Unlike other systems of the era, audio for DOS was unfortunately complicated for both programmers and end users alike. A lot of early scene software didn't bother including it. While those that did often didn't test it on all the hardware they supposedly supported.

DOSee pronounced dos/see, is our emulator used to run MS-DOS based software in your web browser.

MS-DOS (Microsoft DOS) was the primary operating system used by PCs during the 1980s to the early 1990s and is the precursor to Microsoft Windows.

DOSee is a slimmed down, modified port of The Emularity.

The Emularity is a multi-platform JavaScript emulator that supports the running of software for legacy computer platforms in a web browser. It is the same platform that's running emulation on the Internet Archive.

EM-DOSBox is a discontinued, high-performance JavaScript port of DOSBox that is applied by The Emularity for its emulation of the MS-DOS platform.

DOSee uses BrowserFS ZipFS and ZipFS Extras to simulate zip file archives as hard disks within EM-DOSBox.

DOSBox is the most popular MS-DOS emulator in use today and is frequently used by commercial game publishers to run games from their back-catalogues on modern computers.

DOSee, built on The Emularity, EM-DOSBox and DOSBox. Capture screenshot and save function built on canvas-toBlob.js.

How 2 become Distro/HQ . Memberstatus (Jan.1994) . S!P history so far... ∙ Final Words This document was written by Erik Pojar / S!P (former Rick Dangerous) About the Demo -------------- This demo made the second place at the demo competition of THE PARTY 3 in Herning / Denmark. This demo is designed to work also on not-so-powerfull computers. In fact I've tested it on a 286 and it worked fine. There are some rumors, that there are some bugs on a 486-66 with a local bus ET-4000.... Hmm. strange. But hey, just let it run on a slower computer ;-) The demo needs 600.000 Bytes of free conventional Memory. No EMS is needed. In fact, the demo won't run with an EMS-driver. The demo uses exclusively the Gravis Ultrasound for music output. A 256k GUS will do. Release Fuck-Ups ---------------- Well, it's no secret, that the so-called 'Amiga-organizers' kinda fucked up parts of the pc-part of the party. Their Masterpiece was to force all atten- dants of the demo competition to release their demos, even if they were not finished. Well. I know that the Demo of Stone/Dust isn't finished yet, my demo was only finished 95%, and the demo by Infiny wasn't absolutely ready either! So the top 3 demos weren't finished, but still they wanted them released. I talked to Lord Cyrix / Access Denied, and he told me that I've got time till the 10th of January to finish everything, so that sounded o.k. to me! But today (which is the 7th of January, the day I actually finished the demo) I learned that the demo-fragments where released allready. Hmm. Well. THIS is the final version of GBU, so it's not my fault you had to down- load it twice. //ReeBoK//: I really have to say: Who ever spreaded the unfinished versions of the demos should better hide himself well, 'cause I will find you and then you will get some nice things to hear (and actually they will be supported be some kicks in your ass!!!) Fuck you, son of a bitch, how could you dare to realese our work without permission =B-( We get you asshole! (this is not a promise, it's a fact!) I've changed my Name -------------------- I've deceided to drop my Handle. I don't want to be called Rick Dangerous any longer. Simply call me by my real name: Erik Pojar. I WILL NOT read any letters which have written 'Rick Dangerous' on it. I HATE getting such letters, because my postman always looks at me in such a strange way.. So do me a favour and simply call me Erik! The Credits ----------- Front-end coding, demo linking, additional design by Erik Pojar. Music by Fred. Graphics by Maestro and J.O.E. If you don't understand my answer, then you haven't asked the stupid question yet. Messages & Greets ----------------- The Greets go to all in S!P, especially to my old friends, Firefly & Ulrik. I don't greet all my Austrian pals here, 'cause I see them anyway every day at university... Greets to all I met at the Party 1,2 and 3 except the fucking lamer of Irresistible Works who really bothered me quite badly... Well.
