Emulating BIP4FUT.EXE in DOSee.

Use these tabs to make adjustments to the emulation

Covox audio settings, port LPT1

Also branded as a DA Converter, Sound Player, Covox Speech Thing, Disney Sound Source

If the emulation is taking too long to load, you can turn it off.

Reload DOSee to launch the DOS prompt

Applying changes will reload the page and reboot the emulator

Changes are not applied until the browser tab is reloaded

DOS programs need a keyboard for user input
Some common keys used in DOS programs

ENTER to select or continue
ESC to navigate back or exit
are often used to navigate menus

Emulation too slow?
Set the emulator to use maximum CPU speed

Emulation too fast?
Set the emulator to use the 8086 CPU configuration

Experiencing graphic or animation glitches?
Set the emulator to use VGA only graphics configuration

Need to turn off the audio?
Disable sound card support

Have no audio?
  1. Try SoundBlaster 1.0 hardware
  2. The song or audio file maybe missing from the program
  3. Audio may not be supported
Unlike other systems of the era, audio for DOS was unfortunately complicated for both programmers and end users alike. A lot of early scene software didn't bother including it. While those that did often didn't test it on all the hardware they supposedly supported.

DOSee pronounced dos/see, is our emulator used to run MS-DOS based software in your web browser.

MS-DOS (Microsoft DOS) was the primary operating system used by PCs during the 1980s to the early 1990s and is the precursor to Microsoft Windows.

DOSee is a slimmed down, modified port of The Emularity.

The Emularity is a multi-platform JavaScript emulator that supports the running of software for legacy computer platforms in a web browser. It is the same platform that's running emulation on the Internet Archive.

EM-DOSBox is a discontinued, high-performance JavaScript port of DOSBox that is applied by The Emularity for its emulation of the MS-DOS platform.

DOSee uses BrowserFS ZipFS and ZipFS Extras to simulate zip file archives as hard disks within EM-DOSBox.

DOSBox is the most popular MS-DOS emulator in use today and is frequently used by commercial game publishers to run games from their back-catalogues on modern computers.

THE BINARY POETS PRESENTS A BIP PRODUCTION OF 1993 B I P 4 T H E F U T U R E Released the 10th of June 1993 Developed by Kim, Jesper, Andreas and Niklas of The Binary Poets Music-system by The CodeBlasters ┌──────────────┐ ═══════════════════════════════╛ REQUIREMENTS ╘════════════════════════════════ The demo requires: ∙ A 100% IBM compatible 80286 with at least 8 Mhz, but we recommend a faster computer for better sound quality. ∙ An IBM compatible standard VGA , with at least 512k of video memory. If you have a slow CPU, like a 80286 with 8 Mhz, we recommend a graphics card with at least 1Mb. Otherwise the demo will flicker. The video memory amount doesn't really matter on faster computers, like a 386 or 486 with 25 Mhz or more. ∙ At least 560k of free RAM memory. Do not use EMM386 or QEMM, because then the demo will run very badly. ┌──────────┐ ═════════════════════════════════╛ SUPPORTS ╘══════════════════════════════════ The following SoundDevices are supported in the demo. ∙ Internal Speaker - MONO ∙ Mono D/A Converter or Covox in LPT 1 - MONO ∙ Mono D/A Converter or Covox in LPT 2 - MONO ∙ SoundBlaster - MONO ∙ Two D/A Converters in LPT1 & LPT2 - STEREO ∙ Stereo D/A Converter in LPT 1 - STEREO ∙ Stereo D/A Converter in LPT 2 - STEREO ∙ SoundBlaster PRO - STEREO ┌────────────────────────────┐ ════════════════════════╛ INFORMATION ABOUT THE DEMO ╘═════════════════════════ This demo was coded in 100% pure 80286 assembler, and it is our first assembler program ever, so that's why the demo isn't that good. We made this demo for the Computer Crossroad demo contest. We used Turbo Assembler 2.51, Deluxe Paint II, 3D Studio, Winimages Morph, and TCB Whacker Tracker to create this little demo. We haven't had any time to code our own musicsystem yet, so we used Goldplay by Sourcer of TCB in this demo too. The demo is tested on the following computers. ∙ 286 - 10 Mhz, Standard VGA 256Kb SoundBlaster PRO 2.0 ∙ 486 - 25 Mhz, Tseng Labs 1Mb - Local Bus SoundBlaster 2.0 ∙ 486 - 33 Mhz, Tseng Labs ET-4000 1Mb SoundBlaster 1.0 ∙ 486 - 33 Mhz, Trident 8900 1Mb SoundBlaster PRO 1.0 . 486 - 33 Mhz, Diamond Stealth VRAM 1Mb SoundBlaster PRO 2. ┌──────────────────────────────┐ ════════════════════════╛ BUGGS & PROBLEMS IN THE DEMO ╘═════════════════════ ∙ The Diamond Stealth VRAM is a very slow Graphiccard in DOS but fast when you have the right drivers. We haven't adjusted the demo for that card, so some parts looks very slow. ∙ If the demo buggs, test different kinds of setup's. The computerspeed can fix many of those problems. But the most important is a fast graphiccard! ∙ If the music sounds bad while the morphingpart is running, try a slower computerspeed in the setup or run the demo from a ramdrive. ┌────────────────────────────┐ ════════════════════════╛ HOW TO BUILD A SOUNDPLAYER ╘═════════════════════════ Here is an example of how to build a Digital/Analog Converter, that you plug into the printer port (LPT1 or LPT2). The D/A Converter is compatible to the Covox Little Speech Thing. The resistors and the capacitor together costs about 10 Sek and the parallell port about 25 Sek. A few weeks later Kim and Jeppe joined the group. Peter ( Andreas' cousine ) helped us with some Pascal routines. We started to program demos in Turbo Pascal 6.0. After a while we realized that it is impossible to create a cool demo with fast screen update and module music in Pascal, so we decided to start programming assembler.
