Ok, lets crawl right back to the eighties: The Amiga was the machine to own, whether it was an A500/A500+/A600/A1200 etc the games were incredible back then, and so was the price tag. Luckily, the scene had grown from its early commodore 64 roots to something more exiting. Armed with a 1200k modem it was now possible to download that game you dreamed about from a bulletin board to a trusty floppy disk. Ok so it took 2 days and the phone bill was shit.....if you did`nt cheat of course, but it was worth it. My Hero`s of the time and still are.......in no particular order: FAIRLIGHT, PARADOX, CRYSTAL, BLIZZARD, DUAL CREW SHINING, SILENTS, RED SECTOR. loads more...but these were the big boys in my eyes. Great releases and plenty of em :) I`ve gotta say, i remember Paradox getting loads of crap back then, can`t really remember what for.....all i can say is, no matter what, they have earned their place in history and still remain active today....says it all. well done guys. Anyhow.......back in those times were two groups local to Lancashire, England. PaRtNeRs In CriMe ----------------- A small group, who basically bought, cracked and released games and software in the surrounding area. No Suppliers, no couriers, no intention to ever go that way. They did however have 2 BBS Sites for downloads: CrimeUK and Hell House for members and friends only. The group was always a loose band and had more than its share of lazy bastards. After around 2 years it was to all intents and purposes over, although the name was kept alive for many years after by ArChiVeS Member bAiLeY under the name of SnUffErMan. Pendle Europa ------------- Another group of like minded folk who set out to crack and release software. Pendle, had contacts throughout europe and as the nineties loomed a dump site hidden within a university server in Scotland provided its members with the pick of the best. Pendle member MaNnY at that time compiled Utils disks ( floppy based ) with the latest must have software called The MaNnYs Archives. As we move into the mid nineties these compilation disks moved to CD Discs. About this time, Pendle Europa Disbanded......but the Archives Discs continued. Year 2000 --------- In 2000 bAiLeY (Ex PaRtNeRs) Teamed up with MaNnY (Ex Pendle) initially on the disc compilation of the Archives, which was by now in DVD form. These DVD`s were only ever for the members of both ex teams & contributers, but were seen being sold on car boots and the internet around the country. We soon nipped the sale of our releases in the bud......only true friends now recieved the Arcs discs. The ArChiVeS Team was born. As time went on, we drifted away from the compilation discs, and returned to what we enjoy and do best....Cracking and Releasing. Some of our uk team hero`s deserve a mention, for being great m8`s...... HeLz (Midlands) TiKKa (The South) Bounty Hunter (The North) JT (Midlands) Rest of you can piss off.......only kiddin guys! Since 2000 we have deliberately stayed away from the usual scene for the reasons listed here.... We learnt in the eighties & nineties how easily friends can become enemies, a raid on Houghty by trading standards taught us that. To the guys currently in the scene....never let your guard down. We never had, or have any intention of competing on the release front. We crack what we want, or need at any particular time. We don`t need friends, or advice. To all groups out there....think of us as a distant relative you never see :) We have the deepest respect for all the teams past and present and wish you all well into the future. Suppose I should mention some of my favourites, in no particular order........ Razor 1911, FFF, PWA, Digerati, ACME, AGAIN, Nitrous, Explosion, LUCID, CAFE, Virility, Laxity, Eclipse, Embrace, Chic n Cream, DVT. Been some great releases from all the above. I could go on and on........he already has i hear you say :) Also a mention for the old Comp Disc release Guys: Jurassic & Gold And some more hero`s: Astalavista / Tuts4you / Keygenmusic / Defacto2 Thats all from me......hopefully see you in another 10 years. bAiLeY ------ And remember our motto and grab life with the nuts....... "The Future`s Only Yours If You Make it!"
