Ok guys.. Here it is.. A full crack for the install of Strike Commander.. I've been waiting (like you guys) for this game for a LOOOONG time, and was sure that the UNT release was a Beta because of the "bugs" in the sim.. I. E. "You've gone over to the Dark Side son!", and A being Eject.. If these are happening to you, then you have a bad crack.. After thinking that it might NOT be a beta, I went in to see what Wayward did to crack it, and found the doc check routine, and it was a weird puppy. If you looked at each line, and determined what it did in your head, you would figure out that it was just an ordinary C input and ToUpper routine. They get the password, and convert it to uppercase, and then call an INT 15 with ES:DI pointing to the password you just entered.. I'm not sure exactly what that INT 15 does, I didn't get into it that far yet, but I did manage to find where they make the "fix" to let the game work. It seems that they take your password, and use it to generate a Dword value. They take that value and put it in the SC.EXE file. The game then looks at that value to determine if you get to play for real or not. I've installed this thing about 10 times this morning so that I could get all kinds of different passwords, and did them wrong, and strange.. They all generate the SAME Dword value if you put in the right one. Sooo... I make the program get the right value instead of the Computed value. (See code sample).. It always puts in the right Dword, and the game always works. Nice game, but not what the hype made it out to be. Just another F-16 simulator.. Actual code from the routine to determine if you Live or if you Die.. NOP ; Thanks Guys! I really needed this NOP ; Space to put my bytes to crack it! MOV EAX,[BP+06] ; Get the Dword from Storage MOV Dword Ptr [225F],EAX ; Put it in the buffer about to be ; Written to Offset $200 of Sc.exe This game was written to be cracked.. They left me a couple of NOP's in the right place so that I could put in the 6 byte op code in place of the 4 byte one that was in there.. THANKS GUYS! My theory is that the "In-House" version of this game had the same code in this place that mine does now, and they just changed a couple of bytes to make the "Production" version. Also, in case you didn't notice (I didn't until I got into the install), the SC.EXE is ALMOST the same file as INSTALL.EXE. They Copy Install.EXE over to SC.EXE, and then make the changes to it. The "Cinema" sections of the game are quite nice. I'm still waiting for someone to sync up the lips with the words being said. That'll be something. Now for my bitches.. FUCK the map generation! Put the maps on the disk! I HATE having to wait 10 minutes for it to generate the stinking maps! Also, I want to be able to pick ANY weapon for ANY mission. On Mission 2, I want MAVERICKS! Someone said that there is another doc check in the game somewhere.. If there is, get me a save game right before it happens, and tell me what to do, and I'll give it a shot..
