DOS programs need a keyboard for user input
Some common keys used in DOS programs

ENTER ↡ to select or continue
ESC to navigate back or exit
←→ ↑↓ are often used to navigate menus

Emulation too slow?
Set the emulator to use maximum CPU speed

Emulation too fast?
Set the emulator to use the 386 CPU configuration

Experiencing graphic or animation glitches?
Set the emulator to use VGA only graphics configuration

Need to turn off the audio?
Disable sound card support

Have no audio?
  1. Try Gravis Ultrasound hardware
  2. The song or audio file maybe missing from the program
  3. Audio may not be supported
Unlike other systems of the era, audio for DOS was unfortunately complicated for both programmers and end users alike. A lot of early scene software didn't bother including it. While those that did often didn't test it on all the hardware they supposedly supported.

DOSee pronounced dos/see, is our emulator used to run MS-DOS based software in your web browser.

MS-DOS (Microsoft DOS) was the primary operating system used by PCs during the 1980s to the early 1990s and is the precursor to Microsoft Windows.

DOSee is a slimmed down, modified port of The Emularity.

The Emularity is a multi-platform JavaScript emulator that supports the running of software for legacy computer platforms in a web browser. It is the same platform that's running emulation on the Internet Archive.

EM-DOSBox is a discontinued, high-performance JavaScript port of DOSBox that is applied by The Emularity for its emulation of the MS-DOS platform.

DOSee uses BrowserFS ZipFS and ZipFS Extras to simulate zip file archives as hard disks within EM-DOSBox.

DOSBox is the most popular MS-DOS emulator in use today and is frequently used by commercial game publishers to run games from their back-catalogues on modern computers.

IMP Application Factory Version 2.0 Programmer: Dr. Cpu/IMP Menus/Layout: Tzeentch/IMP The Masked Pirate/IMP β”‚ ──┼─────────────┐ β”‚Documentationβ”‚ └─────────────┼─── β”‚ What is it? ~~~~~~~~~~~ Well, here it is! The IMP Application Factory that will be distributed out with our Art Pack each month. Well, this Application Factory is similar to the ones that the other major groups use. If you've seen ACiD's, VOiD's, and all the other major groups out there, they all have somewhat a similar interface. What to do... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just to get started... The Application Factory is very easy to use. When you load it up, it will display a menu with all its available option shown. All you have to do is move the cursor around and voil…. When you want to pick the specific area that you want to join, just smack the <ENTER> key and you will be presented with an InfoForm similar to the ones you see as you apply to certain BBS (though, mostly Forum hacks). Just answer the questions to the best of your ability (of course, if any invalid information is given, you application must be void!). Since you may be talented in many of the fields presented, you will be able to apply for whatever position that you feel that you are most comfortable in. Just select each of the position and fill out the application form. Most of the application form will be saved into the current drive and directory with a similar format (filename): xx-APP.XXX β”‚ β”‚ β”‚ └───────── XXX is the position you are β”‚ applying for └───────────────── xx are you initials For example, since I am a programmer, I will select the Coding application and fill out the form. After it is done, it will save it to the current directory and drive with the name: DC-APP.COD β”‚ β”‚ β”‚ └───────── COD stands for Coder └───────────────── DC is my initials Since there are more options to chose to be in, the file extension will change upon the field you select. ART (artist), COD (coder), FX (FX coder/Music), and LIT (Literature). However, the SiteShip application is different. It will save it under a filename of SITE.IMP since you are going to apply for only one BBS (unless you own 2 or more different boards with different names =8)). When you have finished filling out all the application form(s) of the position(s) you feel that you capable of performing under, ZIP up all your application forms into one small ZIP file: xx-IMP.ZIP β”‚ └───────────────── xx being your initials (since ZIP is the standard for today use) and UL it to the WHQ (Holocaust: The Armageddon at 604-271-5432) and logon as GUEST (PWD: GUEST). After all is completed, sit tight and wait for one of the Senior member to give you a call. But remember, all information that was enter in the application form must be real...or else! Application Factory ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Application Factory is coded in Turbo Pascal 6.0. 80% of the coding is in Pascal while 20% of the rest is in Assembly. I am starting out in Assembly.. and things should be cool in the near future (hopefully) =8). The Application Factory was written under a 486DX2-66MHz system. Many of the delays, fadings, etc.. were written for a 486 system. I've tried it on a 386 system and it seemed to be a bit slow. So, if you have a 386 or lower (286..wow!), don't be afraid.. the program hasn't crashed on you. Unless, something serious really happened.. c'est la vie! Greetings ~~~~~~~~~ Hi's and ho's to all the artist, coders, musicians, etc.. out there. Hope we can be friends! =8) History ~~~~~~~ Version 2.0 - Current version - Changed most of the logos around =8) This is because GRiP/AD and NWA had merged into the group Imperial - Made some corrections Version 1.0 - Current version - Hopefully no bugs will be left - Text mode interface with ANSI screens Version 0.3β–€ - Never made it out... didn't have time =8) Version 0.1β–€ - First ever β–€eta version to come out - ANSI screens changed around
