We have new terminology at the DOX Report in regards to clone-style ISO releases. The TERMS "emulator-image" or "emulation-image" will be used for any release that can not be burned to create a replica of the Retail store-bought game disc. A Clone is a burnt replica of such a disc. Image files on your hard drive that you mount with tools (such as Daemon Tools) are NOT CloneCDs nor CloneDVDs. They are herein referred to by the term "emulator-images". The DOX Report only acknowledges dox created for Cracked/Unprotected games and for burnable Clone ISOs, but not for emulator-images. Such emulation violates long-running, accepted scene standards and rules. DOX that were missing from previous months are added to this month's stats. Missing: 03-18 FORD.STREET.RACiNG.PLUS.3.TRAiNER-BiNARiES 03-21 THE.GODFATHER.THE.GAME.PLUS.8.TRAINER-DEViOUS -=====================- -= S c e n e =- -=====================- "UNBAiSEDGOATS" changes name to "Unleashed". Since it was officially announced in an NFO file, the DOX Report will include releases from both names together this month, under the new name of "Unleashed". Also, the 2006 stats will move all UNBAiSEDGOATS points/stats over to Unleashed (for fairness). Why a dox group would "merge" into a horrible "clone" group that only did 1 release (and a nuked, non-burnable, emulator-image at that, which also needed a MDS fix), is beyond me. Probably they are the same person or people, so the DOX Report considers it a group rename, not a merger. Beware of fake cracks claiming to be securom/safedisc/starforce. It seems that lots of lamers are coming out of the woodwork these days looking for a cheap way to increase their number of releases. Quick warning: learn how to crack the right way or don't even bother trying, else you will only get nuked. Finally, TNT was de-throned as the #1 ranked group this month. The (Nameless Ones) hold the record for the highest average of points earned per release at 20.0 pts/rel. TNT DEViANCE Unleashed - still stack up in the #1 #2 #3 positions. No change since last month. FASDOX is flying in hot at #4 still, watch out! _____________________ The Stats ________________________________________________________________________________ -=====================- -= ABSENTiA =- -=====================- The only thing they get this month is a subtraction of points for the sneaky bullshit on that FEAR 1.03 update from last month. Very, VERY lame. Points Date Release ______ _____ ________________________________________________________________ -20 03-25 F.E.A.R.Update.v1.03-ABSENTiA < -20 = NUKED, point subtraction from last month. Here is the deal. The scene release is protected with SecuROM. The only valid Scene release was the DEViANCE CD-Rom Version. Those other DVDs were nuked for various reasons such as stolen cracks or faked group names. 1. The 200 meg (ouch that's lame!) patch included with their release is for the UK euro game. It does not work on the DEViANCE CD edition, as you need the USA 1.03 patch for it. Reason #1 for a nuke. 2. ABSENTiA did NOT crack the SecuROM protection on the 1.03 patch. Instead they went and "attempted" to crack the trial, download-2-buy 1.03 version. Nuke reason #2. 3. They failed to correctly crack the trial protection, which is TryMedia ActiveMark. Their so-called 'crack' will crash under varied circumstance for some people. It is the same problem that a certain group was complaining about in the 0day scene, in regards to bad ActiveMark cracking. Nuke reason #3, a BAD CRACK. 4. Finally, even if their crack works for you and if you ignore the fact that using web/trial ActiveMark cracks is not allowed in the *ISO* scene, the game does not behave like a real SecuROM crack would have. Various things will be created on your computer due to the ActiveMark protection. A retail customer or a CloneCD user would not have to deal with that crap. Scene releases must mimic the Retail Experience. Reason #4 for the nuke: non-retail experience. So it ends. The ISO releases of this new Emergency 4 game are really CloneCD's in disguise. They have invalid ISO structures and BIN Errors present, which are needed for the copy protection to recognize the disc as being authentic. Yes, CDRWIN and the BIN/CUE format can be used to create CloneCDs on some of the simpler protections. This is why a release group is *supposed* to run a BIN checker, such as the program BinChunker, to be sure the image does not have errors *before releasing it*. If your burner does not correctly burn the bin errors (and some do not), then the game will ask for the ORIGINAL DISC when you try to launch the protected game EXE. This is because your burnt disc failed the protection check. The scene release is protected with SecuROM. The only valid Scene release was the DEViANCE CD-Rom Version. Those other DVDs were nuked for various reasons such as stolen cracks or faked group names. 1. Unleashed did NOT crack the SecuROM protection on the 1.04 patch. Instead they went and "attempted" to crack the trial, download-2-buy 1.04 version. Nuke reason #1. 2. They failed to correctly crack the trial protection, which is TryMedia ActiveMark. Their so-called 'crack' will crash under varied circumstance for some people. It is the same problem that a certain group was complaining about in the 0day scene, in regards to bad ActiveMark cracking. Nuke reason #2, a BAD CRACK. 3. Finally, even if their crack works for you and if you ignore the fact that using web/trial ActiveMark cracks is not allowed in the *ISO* scene, the game does not behave like a real SecuROM crack would have. Various things will be created on your computer due to the ActiveMark protection. A retail customer or a CloneCD user would not have to deal with that crap. Scene releases must mimic the Retail Experience. Reason #3 for the nuke: non-retail experience. So it ends.
