Unprotect for Mean 18 Golf EGA Version (IBM PC) And for the Arch program included with Mean 18 Golf Updated December of 1987 BE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR MEAN 18 GOLF DISK BEFORE STARTING AND USE THE BACK UP FOR THE UNPROTECT. THIS WAY IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG THEN YOU ARE NOT OUT A GOLF GAME.......... First you should rename the file golf.exe to golf C>rename golf.exe golf Next Load golf into debug... C>debug golf Then Follow the sample debug session: -r : Get the contents of the registers : The register that is important is : CS ... : Whatever appears here you should : Now add 1000 hex to it : i.e. 30DE plus 1000 hex = 40DE : Be real careful here ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ : The new number is denoted at YYYY -e YYYY:9a2e : Edit the contents of address YYYY:9a2e YYYY:9A2E B1. : Should appear : If B1 does not appear.. press enter and : quit immediately. this unprotect is : not for your version. Now type "EB" then press the SPACE bar. YYYY:9A2E B1.eb 01. : Should appear : If 01 does not appear.. press enter and : quit immediately. Now type "AF" then press the ENTER key. Now write the new golf game back to the disk: -w <Enter> Writing XXXXX bytes Then Quit Debug: -q <Enter> Now it is time to rename GOLF back to GOLF.EXE C>ren golf golf.exe Now try to run the new (Hopefully) unprotected version Of Mean 18 Golf C>golf -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is an unprotect for the Arch program on the Mean 18 golf Disk Updated Dec 1987 First you should rename the file arch.exe to arch C>rename arch.exe arch Next Load arch into debug... C>debug arch Then Follow the sample debug session: -e e9ee : Edit the contents of address e9ee XXXX:E9EE B1. : Should appear : If B1 does not appear.. press enter and : quit immediately. This is not for your : version of ARCH.EXE. Now type "EB" then press the SPACE bar. XXXX:E0EE B1.eb 01. : Should appear : If 01 does not appear.. press enter and : quit immediately. Now type "AF" then press the ENTER key.
