Everything else is here. │ │ │ │ This game proved to a giant bitch to rip, just becuase of its sheer │ │ size of textures. We noticed that a lot of the texture maps were │ │ similar, and used a file-compare patching utility to only include │ │ the "difference" between the various textures maps in this release. │ │ │ │ What does this mean to you? Nothing...all you need to do is run the │ │ "rebuild.bat" file in the root of your MIA directory ONCE before │ │ playing the game. This patcher will rebuild all of the textures │ │ (takes appromiately 15 mins on a P5-200), after which you can play │ │ the game simply by typing MIA.EXE. │ │ │ │ To install the game, simply unzip all of the files into a temporary │ │ directory, make a directory to hold the game in (e.g. C:\MIA), then │ │ unACE the game into that directory: │ │ │ │ ace32.exe x -y mia.c01 c:\mia\ │ │ │ │ NOTE: You must have the trailing slash on the end of your target │ │ directory, or ACE will not extract the files properly. │ │ │ │ │ │ After the decompression is complete, change to your MIA directory │ │ and run SETUP.EXE. It's no shocking │ │ knowledge that 75 disks just isn't cutting it anymore. We have almost │ │ all agreed that the new disk limit shall be 90. To prove that fact, I │ │ will place quotes from a private message board all SPA members are on │ │ showing the general agreement in case anyone has something to say about │ │ this release. So unless we are proven wrong, the new disk-limit is 90. │ │ If anyone even "thinks" about trying to say it's cause we can't rip a │ │ game properly, look at our past and present successes a la Starcraft, │ │ NHL 99, Red Alert, etc etc. We know how to rip, it's just we CHOOSE │ │ not to delete all sound from a title just so it's under some 75 disk │ │ limit. I, for one, have a sound card, and enjoy it.
