Unprotect for OUT RUN (IBM PC) BE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR OUT RUN DISK BEFORE STARTING AND USE THE BACK UP FOR THE UNPROTECT. Modify only the backup copy!!! First you should rename the file or files OUTCGA.EXE TO OUTCGA OUTTDY.EXE TO OUTTDY OUTEGA.EXE TO OUTEGA Ex. C>rename outcga.exe outcga Next Load program into debug... Ex. C>debug outcga Then Follow the sample debug session: -s 0000 ffff 1e 50 8b d0 42 : Search of protection pattern XXXX:YYYY : The search will return one address. If more or less than one are returned this unprotect may not work. The values returned should be: XXXX:AA62 : OUTTDY XXXX:AB36 : OUTEGA XXXX:CFD1 : OUTCGA : If these are not the address returned : then change the addresses in the patch : file. Now exit debug to apply patch: -q <Enter> Now apply the patch: C>debug outcga <outcga.pat Now it is time to rename outcga back to outcga.exe C>ren outcga outcga.exe Now try to run the new (Hopefully) unprotected version of OUT RUN C>outcga -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unprotect Brought to you courtesy of Super Dave Super Dave can be reached at: The Download Depot BBS (803) 269-7899 Greenville, SC
