------------------------------------------------------------------------ SNES/SEGA (and now also N64) Backup ------------------------------------------------------------------------ FAQ SHEET FlashBack Systems: SNES/SEGA Backup Unit FAQ Sheet 1.0 9-20-96 FAQ: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Q. Does this unit REALLY back up my Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis games? A. Yes!) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Q. How does it work? A. Our backup unit simply reads the data from your cartridge, and transfers the data to your hard drive via cable and adapter. Your game data is safely stored until you want to put the data back on your blank cartridge. In the event that your real cartridge breaks.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Q. What are the system requirements for the software and hardware? A. You must have a 386 class machine with 4 meg of RAM. One open 8-bit ISA slot for the interface card.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Q. What is included for the advertised $150.00 U.S. price? A. You get one 8-bit ISA adapter card, one PCB I/O interface for SNES, and SEGA, 3 foot interface cable, documentation, utility software, and your choice of one 32 mbit SEGA, or one 32 mbit SNES blank flashram cartridge.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Q. How much is an extra 32mbit cartridge? A. The price ranges due to ram price changes, usually $50 to $60.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Q. Do you sell cartridges with more than 32 mbit of Flashram? A. Yes, up to 64 mbit, however it is costly, and unnecessary.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Q. Do any games come with the system? A. No.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Q. Are these units new? Are they factory made? Do they come with a warranty? A. Yes, they are brand new, sent with documentation and software. Yes, they are factory made, nothing homemade here. Yes, a 90 day limited warranty.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Q. Can you ship these units anywhere? A. Yes, we will ship worldwide COD. Two day shipping and handling U.S. is $15. International shipping varies please E-mail [email protected] for current prices.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Q. Will this unit back up all Super Nintendo and Sega Cartridges? A. No, cartridges that use a special chip cannot be backed up. Example: Starfox (FX CHIP), Super Mario Kart(DSP CHIP). These types of games make up for about 1% of total games for both systems so you CAN back up about 99% of all games.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Q. How about backing up the larger games like Super Street Fighter II? A. Sure, our unit comes with your choice of a 32 mbit Sega Genesis or Super Nintendo cartridge. Plenty of memory for the larger games. I have been told of only one game that has more than 32 mbit of data.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Q. Will this unit back up Sega's 32X cartridges too? A. Yes!) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Q. Is this backup unit compatible with the .SMC format for SNES? A. Coversion software will be released around Dec 96.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Q. How about the format for SEGA Genesis and SEGA 32X? A. We use binary or the SMD format for Genesis, and a raw format for 32X.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Q. Will these units create files that I can use with SNES and SEGA emulators? A. Yes, some conversion may be necessary but you can use these backups with the emulators.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Q.
