You can use pdftoppm to convert this file into a readable format, e.g.:
pdftoppm -jpeg -r XXX -jpegopt "quality=YYY" file.pdf base_name
where XXX is your chosen resolution and YYY your jpeg encode quality.
-r 350 and "quality=90" usually give a reasonable size.
You can also use the RETAiL.to.CBZ.v2.1.eBook.TOOL-PRiNTER tool.
We are finally getting a ruleset update after 10 years.
The ebook section had time to evolve a lot during this time,
and we are happy to finally be able to use the improvements made.
Unfortunately, there are some points we still disagree with,
but we will stick to them.
A couple updates concerning the upcoming stuff:
-As the CBZ format is now allowed, we will always use it for jpeg sources,
including conversions from the original PDF files (parameters will always
be specified in nfo).
Note: those conversions will always be superior in quality compared
to the previous jpeg-sourced ones, including the "Le Journal de Spirou"
titles released as retail.
-Regarding the previous RETAiL comics released:
- They will be continued using the HYBRiD tag (they are obviously not
available for sale) and released under the PDF format like before.
- Keep in mind that they are the same as the previous retail internals,
we just follow the right source tag.
No matter this source tag, these releases are from the original files
and surpass every precedent and future release quality-wise.
They are in some cases even lighter (in size) thanks to the use of the
JBIG2 and CCITT formats.
- Year tag is now added in dirname, using either the copyright year or
the one specified on the publisher's website.
In any case, the last edition and/or the last reprint will always be used.
Who needs a nfo? Ink is already expensive enough!
