Okay.. where do I start? Your prolly all wondering who the fuck am I? Well.. I'm just someone involved in the scene like yourself. I'm noone special, I don't run a site, I'm not in any big groups but I do see what goes on in the scene and it disgusts me. The 'Scene' has deteriorated so much since I became involved about 4yrs ago and most of you will agree with me on that. People saying shit about each other, Sites getting narqed for utterly stupid reasons, Groups fighting over who stole there crack or key-generator etc. We all know who the 'Top Groups' are by the work they do and we all know what the 'Top Sites' are by the 'Couriers' who trade to them which brings me to my point and reason behind the letter. I have been talking to a few people (names will not be mentioned at this time) and we agree that some changes/rules need to be made in the 'Courier' part of the scene just as changes/rules were set for the 'Releasing' part of the scene. I believe that if Release Groups have strick rules set towards them for the games/utils they put out and if they DO NOT follow these rules they are NUKED on sites................, Shouldn't SITES have regulated rules that should be abided by all "Site Owners" equally so couriers don't have to worry if this or that is allowed on whatever site they are trading too? IE: [1:09] <*> [***] -NUKE 1x- Classify.98.Wolf.v1.03.8.Win9xNT-TRPS (Nuker: sancty Nukee(s): glen (1.5MB) Reason: Minor.Build.0210) ^------ yet this is allowed on other sites? OR [1:41] <*> [***] - NUKE (x1) - 02-16 : Adobe.Acrobat.Exchange_4.0.BETA4-RBS - Nuker: brianna - Reason: Beta ^------------ yet some sites allow betas Why the Fuck should we have to worry about shit like this? A 'Release' Group is penalized for going over the meg limit by having there release Nuked which is exactly what should be done since 'SPA' and now 'The Faction' have set rules for them that should be followed. Break the Rules and you Pay the Price. But Couriers do not have such rules set and cuz we curry a release to a site that doesn't allow a beta or build release it gets nuked and we are penalized for it. Yet, some sites allow beta/build releases. Why should we 'the courier' have to remeber what sites allow this and what sites DO NOT allow this? We are here to spread the 'release' from site to site, not worry whether its not allowed and will be nuked. Basically, all a courier should have to worry about is whether the 'release' has been allready released by another group, than it should not be moved again. In other words, If its a 'Dupe', do not curry it! =) Here are my points of view: (Agree or Disagree, its up to you) #1 SPA and now The Faction was formed to regulate why/how many megs are allowed in a groups release but what about us the 'Couriers'? We make up a big part of the scene also or has that been lost somewhere in the shuffle? I think something should be done about sites to make things easier for the couriers who move the releases. Plain and Simple and to the Point! #2 If a beta or build is allowed on one site is should be allowed on all sites. Reason: Why should a courier have to worry about the file he\she is moving? He/She knows it is allowed on one site, so it should be allowed on all sites. There are way to many sites out there for the couriers to keep track of what is allowed and isn't allowed. If a siteop/staff doesn't want betas/etc on thier site, than find, Fuckin Nuke It but credits shouldn't be taken away from the courier for that reason. There are many other reasons for credits to be removed from the courier. (IE: Empty dirs/dupes/incompletes/foreign/etc) #3 I suggest that set rules be made and proposed to all 'siteops/staff' stating that all releases should be allowed. Including 'kiddiewarez' which should be left up to the siteop/staff for the fact that some siteops I know have children or nieces/nephews and want those kindda releases for themselves. Most kiddie stuff is crap but this gives whomever a chance to try it first and than decide whether to buy it. (Not that most people buy downloaded warez) Also as I already stated "I do think that if Release Groups has strick rules for the games/utils they put out and if they DO NOT follow them rules they are NUKED on sites..... Than I also think that SITES should have rules that should be abided by all SiteOps equally so couriers don't have to worry if this or that is allowed on whatever site they are trading too......... its a 2 way street.. Not a "One'" Street =) _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ The "Scene" is supposed to be a Competitive & Fun place. A place were all types/races of people from around the world come to meet and share each others abilites and thoughts about the scene. A place where "The Best WILL Survive!" Not a place where there are rules dictating one group of people and not the other. These just instances bring up things such as what these texts are addressing. Without 'US' the couriers, only release groups HQ/affils would get the releases. I'm sure a Group wouldn't release something that they knew wasn't allowed on there HQ. But you see.. they know what is allowed and what isn't but we the 'couriers' do not. We have to ask and sometimes you don't get a answer. So you wonder whether you should move it or not but by that time someone else has allready moved it and gained the points to help there group or themselves #1 on that site. Thats the goal isn't it? Or maybe your lucky you didn't move it cuz it wasn't even allowed on that site? Why should we worry 'bout this? Its Fucking Bullshit and its about time we 'The Couriers' take a stand. Whether anything gets done or not is up to the people in the Scene which is your prolly 'YOU' since you are reading this. Any Comments... Send them to dolt or QuyetOne. Thank you for your time.
