We, as The Millenium Group, have to accept this sad truth, and say goodbye to Chafe. Chafe was one of the best crackers in the scene. One of the fastest learning people I have ever seen. Chafe contributed many things to the scene, some of them are below: - over 400 keygens. ( Maybe even more !) - The TMG Keygen template, 100% coded in asm. - AsPatch, the one and only aspack packed progs patcher. - several other cracking tools - TMG Ripper Studio. The last product, was his best :-) With this, he used the knowledge he gathered during the years he cracked and put it into a powerfull tool. This tool, makes keygens, almost automatically ! Read the stuff below, to find out for yourself ! He just gave this magnificent tool away, to the cracking community. Thanks Chafe, for all the things you have done, goodbye, and have fun in your further life. Intern / TMG _______________________________________________________________________________ WHAT IS THIS? This is a tool for converting a small part of a program into assemblycode that you could paste into your own sources. In other words, it makes recoding of GenerateKey-calls an easier task. The program takes either a fileoffset or a virtual address as input and starts to disassemble from that point. When a conditional jump is reached, it branches and follow both directions. It also follows unconditional jumps and traces calls... The trace-engine has some limitations, though.. It does not follow jumps and calls with register or memoryoperands. For example, this won't be followed: JMP DWORD PTR [EAX*4+OFFSET LOC_00401000] Currently, no MMX- and no SSE-instructions are supported either. The generated code is assembleable with MASM. TASM-users might have to do some changes to it before trying to assemble it. THIS IS THE FINAL VERSION During the coming ten months, I will be away from home most of the time because of personal reasons. Therefore, I will not be able to do any bugfixes and because of that, I've decided to declare this project as finished. There are many things that I wish I had time to rewrite. SHORT "HOW-TO-USE" First, find a program that generates the real key in memory and then compare it to the key the user entered. Locate the entry of the code that generates the key and start up TMGRS. Here browse for the input-file and then enter either the fileoffset or the virtual address (as you see in SI) for the entrypoint. Enter the label you wish to use for the entrypoint when calling the code in your keygensource. The "Endpoints" are addresses that will cause the tracer to stop tracing the current "branch". This could be used for preventing whole calls to be included in the dump, but it could also be useful if you don't want to dump a whole call. Just put an endpoint where you want the tracer to stop. Now press "Start trace" and watch the magic.. ;-) If everything goes well, you should see all found datareferences in the listbox. For each shown datareference, select the way it's being used in the code. When selecting a datareference, the datawindow will show what's at that address, and the disassembly-window will show the first location where a reference to the address was found. If the address is referenced more than once, you could doubleclick it in the listbox to see the next location. When all datareferences are set properly, press the "Process datarefs"-button to process them. If you select to process a reference as code, a new trace will take place from the address. If any new datareferences is found, they'll be listed in the listbox, and you'll have to do the same thing again. Now press "Save to .asm", and select a file to write to. Close down TMGRS, open the newly created file, copy'n'paste it into your own keygensource and pray that it will work.. ;-) KNOWN BUGS The scrollbar in the disassembly-window looks like crap, but it works.. I'm a too lousy GUI-coder to fix that.. Happy ripping! \Chafe NOTE to Nukers: This included program is a *very* valuable tool for crackers ! It automates MANY boring tasks crackers have to perform to get a keygen done. Thanks to this tool, making a keygen will be piece of cake.
