A vast range of analogue-style sounds are possible and also sounds based on many other digital forms of synthesis. Sound design can be both rapid and free-form thanks to the straightforward, immediate single layer design. Synth A synth patch in VAZ Modular 3 is built from a number of modules. It is simple and fast to add new modules to a patch with a couple of clicks. There is no need to switch to a hidden wiring layer to connect modules within the patch, inputs to a module are selected with just 2 clicks from a popup menu. Modules Over 90 different modules are available in VAZ Modular 3, including several different oscillators, filters, envelopes, LFOs, and more. New modules in VAZ Modular 3 include the Chaotic LFO which generates a set of 3 semi-periodic waveforms, most easily described as "wiggly", from either Lorenz or Rossler attractor algorithm. The Multistage Envelope module is a 16-step complex envelope generator and the Tempo LFO has it's waveform period set in terms of beats which can be locked to the tempo of a host sequencer. Sequencers VAZ Modular incorporates 3 types of analogue-style pattern sequencer. The CV/gate Sequencer is inspired by analogue sequencers and also the TB303 pattern sequencer. In addition to the 303-like pattern of 16 notes with double, rest, slide and accent modifiers for each step there are 2 freely-assignable control lines. Polyphonic patterns are now possible with up to 16 voices and 16 patterns can be combined within a song. Rhythm can be enhanced with the Swing control and the speed of the sequencer relative to the global clock can be set as a note length. Mixer The Mixer is used to combine and add effects to up to 16 Synths. In addition to built-in effects both VST and DirectShow plugins can be used. Also VSTi instrument plugins can be hosted in the mixer. The internal effects are an Autopan, Chorus, Compressor, Delay, Decimator, Flanger, Phaser and Reverb. Also the Plugin Chainer can be used if more than one effect is wanted on a channel. The Sub Output accesses additional soundcard or plugin outputs.
