We like to think of ourselves as the "Hidden" pirates, because we don't suffocate our cracks with our names and gaudy splash title screens. Face it, you just want to play the game, you don't give a damn WHO cracked it. Well, enjoy 3-D Helicopter Simulator, and DON'T look for further cracks from V O R T E X, because you WON'T see our names splashed all over them... P.S. Autorotation ------------ Page 21, last paragraph. Failure of your engine during flight will always result in your "death". AH-64 ------ We have included a loadable helicopter modeled on the Apache AH-64 military attack helicopter. Although this will change your appearance, your helicopter will still fly as though it is a Robinson R-22. STRATEGY TIP: When fighting against a human opponent, load a helicopter which blends into the background scenery. A little confusion always helps. The Edge of the World --------------------- When you fly off the "edge" of a scene, you will "wrap around" to the opposing side. For instance, if you fly East from town long enough you will eventually re-enter the same town from the West. Controlling the Helicopter -------------------------- We have attempted to accurately simulate the controls of a real helicopter by slightly delaying the keyboard response to match the delayed response of real helicopter controls. This produces an "inertia" effect which is a prevalent helicopter flight characteristic. Joysticks --------- Page 31 of the documentation mentions that dual joysticks are required. If only one joystick is used, it will be presumed to be the cyclic stick. PC-Jr Owners ------------ On some non-IBM memory upgrades you will not be able to return to DOS upon exiting the program. You will have to power off your computer and re-boot. Out Of Memory Problems ---------------------- 3-D Helicopter Simulator is obviously an extremely complex program and barely fits into a 256K machine. If you have 256K you will not be able to run the Helicopter Simulator while memory resident applications (such as Sidekick) are active or on a later version of DOS than 2.11. Capture the Flag ---------------- The "Capture the Flag" scenery file was designed to take advantage of the two player mode where two computers are linked by a modem or null modem. Each player will start on a landing pad and must land on his opponent's landing pad. Along the way you must fly under both of the bridges which separate you while dodging missiles fired by your opponent. You win either by landing on your opponent's base before he lands on yours or by shooting down your opponent. . Crashing results in immediate loss (and is considered rather poor manners). 3-D Helicopter Simulator Contest -------------------------------- Sierra is holding a contest in which you challenge other people from across the nation to the "Capture the Flag" game. Each month valuable prizes will be awarded which include Radio Controlled Helicopters. The contest runs from October 1987 through March 1988. A modem is required.
