=============================================================================== Sierra's MANHUNTER: NEW YORK -- 'BUSTED' 09/24/1988 by PIRATES-R-US =============================================================================== Sierra's MANHUNTER: NEW YORK is a great graphics adventure that is copy- protected only in the sense that it asks for a random word to be looked-up in the original manual before you can play... This requires both the manual, and the effort to search for the word it wants (eg: "enter the sixth word of the second paragraph on page eleven")... What this is is a bunch of crap! When I want to play a game, I DON'T want to spend time digging out the otherwise useless manual just to look-up some stupid word which the damn thing already knows! (Or else it couldn't tell me if I type in the wrong one or not!) So, what we need is a simple 'patch' to bypass the 'Enter_A_Manual_Word' scenero from the game completely... Well, the companion batch file we developed here at the "PIRATES-R-US" crow's nest does just that! One simple word of caution is, as always, be sure to run it on a backup copy just in case Sierra releases differing versions of the program. (For your information, the only file that is affected is "MHVOL.1", and only 3 bytes of it needed to be altered!) To proceed, insure you have "MHVOL.1" in the current directory and a path to "DEBUG.COM", then run the batch file: "FIX-MAN.BAT" That's all there is to it... The manual is never needed again! If only all 'busts' could be so simple and work so well... Have fun and good MANHUNTING... Another fine 'bust' for your enjoyment from your friends at: +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ PIRATES-R-US ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Doing our part to make copy protection a useless waste of time and money... +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
